Making Quilts
Bienvenidos Quilts makes its home at the First Congregational United Church of Christ (FCUCC) in Portland, Oregon, where the “First Crew” of quilters originally came from the church’s women’s group. Here we make and receive quilts from around the country, so far including:
- Baltimore, Maryland
- Carroll County, New Hampshire (see blog, March 11, 2024)
- Cedar Hills United Church of Christ, Portland, Oregon
- Eureka, California
- Hillsboro United Church of Christ, Hillsboro, Oregon
- Menlo Park, California
- Minneapolis, Minnesota
- Nipomo, California
- Portland, Oregon
- Puget Sound, Washington
- Sacramento, California (see blog, October 20, 2023)
- Santa Cruz and Monterey Quilters, Santa Cruz, California
- Creative Quilters, Sun City, Arizona
- Sunriver, Oregon
- Vancouver, Washington
- West Linn, Oregon
Giving Quilts
Bienvenidos Quilts was first envisioned as a response to kids sleeping on the floor of detention centers. However, due to volume and government considerations, we then distributed nearly all of our quilts via shelters along our southern border. In the past year, it has not been possible to do so, so we are giving quilts in the Portland, Oregon area.
